Recent studies on the state of climate change are causing a wave of climate scientists to speak out about what they’re calling a “climate emergency.”
One study released last week reports that the amount of greenhouse gas emissions the world can still emit without raising global temperatures more than 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) has now shrunk by a third.
That’s why scientists are saying we’re facing a climate emergency.
The term “climate emergency,” once used predominantly by climate activists, is now appearing increasingly in academic literature. According to ecologist Bill Ripple who uses the term, he feels he has “a moral obligation to warn humanity” about the state of our climate.
Our SEEC Members in Congress are listening: They’re on the frontlines of this fight in Congress, working to help us reduce our carbon emissions, stick to our commitment of less than 1.5 degrees of warming, and avert this impending climate emergency.
Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
