Friends,

As a part of our team, I wanted to make sure I reached out and gave you a personal update. Yesterday, on the House floor, I publicly announced that I have been living with endometriosis for more than a decade. I shared my story, but more importantly I am encouraging the millions of women living with the condition to share their own.

Endometriosis is rarely talked about, even though it affects an estimated seven million women in the United States. I am humbled to be a voice for women across the country who suffer every day from endometriosis and will continue to share my experience and fight for accessible and affordable healthcare and funding to find a cure every chance I get.

In addition to sharing my story, I also announced the formation of the bipartisan Endometriosis Caucus. The caucus, which includes representatives of all ages and backgrounds, will fight to ensure that endometriosis research gets the funding it desperately needs.

I have lived with this condition for more than a decade, and have never let it get in the way of fighting for Iowans. I will always give my all to my constituents and my community, and this announcement will not change that.

It really means a lot to have you on our team, I couldn't do this without you!

Best,
Abby
