Helping to Make Healthcare Affordable, Celebrating Community Service and Job Creation Legislation

Did you know that open enrollment for affordable, reliable health care coverage is available now at Healthcare .gov?

Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), that I worked hard to get passed through Congress, 4 out of 5 Americans can find plans for less than $10 a month!

In 2023, an estimated 22,000 people in NEPA enrolled in health insurance coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace and the average enrollee is saving $1,260 in premiums this year due to the American Rescue Plan and the IRA.

No one should have to choose between putting food on their table, or going to see their doctor, and that's why I fought to expand eligibility and financial assistance for people purchasing health insurance coverage from the ACA marketplace.

I am happy to report that the number of uninsured Americans reached an all-time low of 8% in 2022, and the total number receiving health insurance through the ACA marketplace reached a record high of 16.4 million in 2023.

Enroll today, or mark your calendars, you have until December 15 to enroll in a plan that starts at the beginning of 2024.

Special Agent

While in Washington this week, I had a productive meeting with Steven Dettelbach, Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and Special Agent Brandy Spasaro.

As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee and Ranking Member of the Commerce, Justice, Science Subcommittee, which funds the ATF through an annual appropriations bill, I understand the importance of ensuring that our federal agents have the resources they need to "protect the public and serve our nation."

I am thrilled to have Special Agent Spasaro bring her experience and knowledge to my D.C. office while serving as a member of Team Cartwright through the ATF Fellowship Program.

Thank you to everyone at the ATF for the important work you do in keeping our families, friends and neighbors safe.

Celebrating the 76th Anniversary

of the Mt. Pocono Rotary Club

For over 76 years the Mt. Pocono Rotary Club has volunteered their time and resources to help the residents of Mount Pocono and surrounding communities by placing "Service Above Self."

As a fellow Rotarian and former District Governor, I am passionate about the important and life changing work being done by Rotary International both here at home and around the world.

The Mt. Pocono Rotary Club's roadside clean-up events, dictionary distribution to local elementary schools, scholarships for seniors at local high schools, hosting of job fairs and community needs assessment forums and all of their fantastic service projects are greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to President Hal Harris, Vice President Sarinthia Saunders and everyone at the Mt. Pocono Rotary Club on your 76th anniversary!
