Gov. Justice announces statewide partnership with Tutor.com

Gov. Justice announced ([link removed]) that the State has entered into a partnership with Tutor.com to provide expert online tutoring, test prep, and job support for West Virginia public library patrons across the state through a new program: TutorWV.

The program is accessible via a dedicated website: TutorWV.com. Available daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at no cost for West Virginians, TutorWV ([link removed]) provides support for patrons of all ages and stages. For students, the program offers online, on-demand, expert tutoring and homework help in more than 200 subjects, along with drop-off review services for essays and math problems.

Gov. Justice to celebrate West Virginia tree heading for display at the U.S. Capitol at event in Charleston

Gov. Justice invited ([link removed]) West Virginians to a holiday festival next Tuesday, November 7, to officially send off a 63-foot Norway Spruce from the Monongahela National Forest to the U.S. Capitol. This is the first time in nearly 50 years that a West Virginia tree will be on display in the nation’s capital, and a festival will be hosted in Charleston to commemorate the honor.

The event will kick off with a parade and will include family-friendly activities showcasing winter offerings from around the state, including ice skating and a light display on the Capitol lawn. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

** West Virginia sees another month of revenue surplus as Gov. Justice announces October collections $7.4 million above estimates

Gov. Justice announced that West Virginia’s General Revenue collections for October 2023, the fourth month of the Fiscal Year 2024, came in at $390.8 million, which is $7.4 million above the official estimate. Cumulative collections of more than $1.808 billion put the state at $242.2 million ahead of the estimate.

“I'm absolutely thrilled with these numbers, and I'm eager to continue seeing increases in the surplus,” Gov. Justice said. “We'll keep a close eye on tracking these numbers, because I am fully dedicated to meeting that goal for our state.”

** First Lady Justice announces newest Friends With Paws therapy dog for Pendleton County Middle/High School

First Lady Cathy Justice announced the state’s next therapy dog through the Friends With Paws program for Pendleton County Middle/High School.

The dog introduced is named Penny. She is a Yellow Labrador.

“Penny is going to be an amazing addition to Pendleton County Middle/High School," First Lady Justice said. “This is a great community here in Franklin and Penny will be ready to greet each student every morning. Penny from Pendleton will be beloved!”

First Lady Cathy Justice has announced the state’s next therapy dog through the Friends With Paws program for Berkeley Springs High School.

The dog introduced is named Penny. She is a Yellow Labrador.

“I am very happy that we were able to place Skye in beautiful Berkeley Springs,” First Lady Justice said. I think this will be a great home for her, and I can’t wait to hear about all the ways that Skye’s presence will make a positive impact on students’ lives. This is a day of celebration!”

** Gov. Justice appoints Erica Moore to Fifteenth District seat in House of Delegates

Gov. Justice announced he has appointed Erica J. Moore, of Spencer, to the West Virginia House of Delegates Fifteenth District, which serves Roane and Wirt counties. Moore fills the seat vacated by Riley Keaton, who resigned earlier this month.

Erica is a computer science graduate from West Virginia University. She has a strong background in working with county offices throughout the state and has successfully managed her family's oil and gas business. Currently, she holds a position with the City of Spencer.

Erica and her husband, Rick, have lovingly raised three boys in Roane County, where they've called home for the past 34 years.
