Catholic Pray-In: #CeasefireNOW
On Thursday, Quixote Center joined other faith-based organizations for a Catholic Pray-in in front of the White House calling for an immediate ceasefire, de-escalation in the conflict, and safe return of hostages. Over 50 protesters attended, and multiple news outlets have featured the protest, including a photo in the Guardian ([link removed]).

Catholic Press Release
In advance of Thursday's Pray-in, we released the following statement alongside Catholic organizations:
"There are no words for our horror at the number of civilian deaths in the past weeks. Since October 7, the bombings have killed over 3,000 children in Gaza. We demand that the United States government, from the White House to Congress, push for an immediate ceasefire, negotiate for the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and work toward freeing hostages. Together with other people of faith and conscience, we denounce violence against all innocents and seek nonviolent solutions."

News from Panama
Art by Melany Allen
Environmental protests against a mining project in Panama have continued to ramp up this week, with thousands taking to the streets and shutting down traffic ([link removed]) in Panama City.
These protests have also impacted our partners' work, as they have disrupted the Panama's busing program for migrants. The RFM-Panama team has stepped in response to provide aid and shelter to impacted families.

Tell Congress: Reject Funding for Harmful Immigration Enforcement
The White House is requesting that Congress give ICE and CBP additional billions in funds to expand immigrant detention, deportation, and surveillance. Tell your members of Congress that our government should fund solutions that uphold the humanity and dignity of migrants, rather than fuel a harmful and broken system, by helping to forward our recent statement.

Take Action for Peace in Haiti
J ([link removed])oin us ([link removed]) in fighting to stop the gun running to Haiti by asking your Representative to co-sponsor the U.S.-Caribbean Strategic Engagement Act of 2023. Armed gangs have taken control of most of Haiti, and the violence is devastating: 600 people died in Port-au-Prince in April of 2023 alone. The gangs can expand and maintain power because they are highly armed, and the U.S. is a major source of these weapons.
Use this form ([link removed]) to urge your Representative to support the bill!
If your member of Congress is one of the co-sponsors listed HERE ([link removed]), we ask that you instead send a thank-you message.
