I hope you and your family are well! I wanted to provide you with a few updates regarding what’s going on –

Biden Caught with Laundered Chinese Money

On October 22, 2020, Joe Biden told America that Hunter Biden “has not made money” from China, but Joe Biden also hid the fact that he was accepting laundered Chinese money.

Joe Biden received $40,000 that was laundered from Northern International Capital through Hunter’s businesses and Joe Biden’s family to put $40,000 in “the Big Guys” pocket. The facts are before you and it’s past time for Joe Biden to come clean and be held accountable for his actions.

Antisemitism in America

Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s history of antisemitic behavior cannot be ignored.

She refuses to stand with Israel as they are attacked by terrorists who are beheading babies, killing civilians in their sleep, and raping Israelis. She promotes Hamas talking points that have been disproven, knowingly amplifying terrorist propaganda to rioters at the Capitol.

I refuse to allow antisemitic behavior to thrive in America. I proudly joined Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene as a cosponsor on a Resolution to censure Rep. Tlaib for her vile, antisemitic rhetoric. Unfortunately, the Resolution was tabled on Wednesday.

Appropriations Update

Recently, the House passed the spending bill that funds energy and water development for the Energy Department, Army Corps of Engineers and others. It passed 210-199.

I supported this bill that supports American nuclear independence, stops funding for radical climate change programs, and blocks funding for Joe Biden’s special interest projects. This bill cuts spending by $1.96 billion below current spending levels.

On Wednesday, the House passed the spending bill that funds the Legislative Branch. It passed 214-197. I supported this bill that made commonsense efforts to not waste taxpayer dollars, safeguard American data from adversaries like China, and to ensure funds are used for official business. This bill is $51.8 billion below the funding requested for FY24.

Strategic Petroleum Reserve

Joe Biden has been draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) which was created to ensure America never again faces an energy crisis like in the 1970s. There are only 17 days of oil left in the SPR if our adversaries cut us off.

Now, the Biden Administration is easing sanctions on Venezuelan dictators to cover up for their horrendous energy policies.

Joe Biden wakes up each day and asks himself whether he wants to negotiate with the leading sponsor of terrorism (Iran) or a dictator in Venezuela.

Joe Biden puts the interests of our adversaries above the energy and national security of Americans.

Protect U.S. Consumers

Tariff-free imports skyrocketed in FY23 with more than 1 billion packages claiming de minimis preferences in the U.S. Mass distributors are using e-commerce to abuse the de minimis provision to avoid billions of dollars of tariffs designed to put American manufacturers on a fair playing ground.

The Biden Administration has the authority to close the Section 321 de minimis loophole to stop the economic harm being caused.

U.S. manufacturers who are seeing a substantial erosion of market share, U.S. workers who are losing their jobs, and small retailers who cannot compete all realize that forced labor supply chains in China as well as drug traffickers are benefitting from these loopholes while American jobs are put in jeopardy.

GRID Act

Thursday, I introduced the ‘Guaranteeing Reliable Infrastructure Development (GRID) Act’ would amend the Federal Power Act to require coordination between FERC and any Federal agency promulgating a regulation that could threaten the reliability of the bulk power system.

South Carolina experienced the impacts of grid instability last Christmas when Winter Storm Elliott interrupted service for nearly half a million residents.

Electric reliability experts publicly note concerns that certain Federal regulatory actions don't adequately consider electric reliability or minimize disruptions to reliability when agencies promulgate regulations affecting the production or generation of energy & electricity.

Fright Night - Halloween

I hope you enjoyed a Happy Halloween celebrating with friends and neighbors in your community. Unfortunately, it's fright night in America every day Joe Biden is President.

That's why I'm standing with Rep. Jim Jordan, Rep. James Comer, and House Republicans to unmask Joe “the Big Guy” Biden so that all Americans see his crimes and true allegiance to our adversaries, not the American people.

Legislative Action

I cosponsored H.R. 6188, Rep. Russell Fry’s bill to name the “Nancy Yount Childs Post Office Building” in Surfside Beach, SC.

I cosponsored H.R. 6176, Rep. Robert Aderholt’s bill to ban the use of federal funds for the funding of Planned Parenthood.

I cosponsored H.R. 6163, Rep. Eleanor Norton’s bill to replace outdated and disrespectful language from the District of Columbia Code.

I cosponsored H.R. 6133, Rep. Brecheen’s bill to ban discrimination of foster parents who do not accept LGBTQ ideology by the Department of Health and Human Services.

In the District

Congratulations to Wyatt G., a third-grader in Laurens who earned a perfect score on his 20203 Third-Grade Math College- and Career-Ready Assessment! Congress could certainly use Wyatt's wisdom to get more done. He said, "Always try your best, take your time, and work out all your problems on paper instead of doing them in your head." Great job Wyatt!

Heads up for my fellow hunters. By July 2024, we will no longer have to physically tag deer. The SC Department of Natural Resources is updating their app to make licensing as well as tagging of deer and turkeys easier. If you prefer the traditional method of physically tagging your deer, animal processing centers will still be available for you! Learn more here.

It's football season which means everyone is under the Friday Night Lights cheering for their local high school team. Brandon Nance is cheering his son on not from the bleachers but from the sidelines as the running backs coach for Dixie High School's football team. Keep up the great work Coach Nance! As a college walk on at Clemson, I know there's no where these football players would rather be than on the grid iron tonight. Good luck to all the teams! 

Veterans Day is coming up next week and there will be countless ceremonies around the Third District. I encourage you to take time to honor veterans in South Carolina by attending one of these ceremonies, visiting a Veterans retirement home, or simply calling a veteran to thank them for their service. I know in South Carolina we appreciate our brave men and women who have served. With over 19 million who have proudly put on the uniform, it's the least we can do to say thank you for their commitment keeping America safe.
