John, here's the latest update on our response to the worsening situation in Israel and Gaza:
Three of our aid trucks, filled with 490,000 urgently needed bottles of water and medical supplies, have entered Gaza for distribution in designated emergency shelters. Additional trucks filled with humanitarian supplies are also waiting in Egypt. Meanwhile, we're working with local partners in Gaza to distribute water, food baskets and hygiene items to families in shelters and going door-to-door to deliver these items to homes. Our teams will continue to respond in this way for as long as supplies and circumstances allow.
But this is not enough. There are still thousands of children at risk. Already, thousands have been killed, and hundreds of innocent civilians – many of them children – are reportedly being held hostage in Gaza. All children in the region are in danger as the violence continues.
That’s why we’re calling for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional release of hostages, so the thousands of children caught in the middle of this conflict can receive the urgent care they need.
In moments like these, it’s easy to feel helpless and overwhelmed – not knowing whether your actions can make an impact. But this initial delivery of supplies, however small, will make a difference for children in urgent need. Your donations to our Children's Emergency Fund are helping make this response possible. Donations to the Children's Emergency Fund not only help support our response to this crisis but to crises around the world.
Thank you for all you do to support the world’s children, especially during this difficult time.
