Daily Docket — Friday, Nov. 3
Democracy Docket is growing! We are hiring two entry-level Case Coordinators with a passion for voting rights. Apply today!

Here are some recent updates.

  • A judge dismissed lawsuits challenging a New Hampshire law that added new ID requirements for voters who register for the first time on Election Day. Voting rights groups argued the law burdens the right to vote and violates the state constitution.

  • In the wake of a multimedia pressure campaign launched by an election denier-run group, Speaker of the Wisconsin Assembly Robin Vos (R) advanced an impeachment resolution for the state’s top elections official, Meagan Wolfe.

  • The Kansas Supreme Court held oral argument in a lawsuit challenging two voter suppression laws that restrict ballot assistance and impose signature matching requirements. The complaint claims that the laws violate the Kansas Constitution.

  • A recent analysis revealed mail-in ballot rejections disproportionately affect voters of color in Virginia, with Black voters' mail-in ballots being rejected at more than twice the rate of white voters in the commonwealth. Read about how bad election laws can especially burden voters of color here.

Here’s what’s coming up on Monday.

  • Trial will begin in a federal case challenging Arizona’s strict proof of citizenship requirements for voter registration.

    • Be on the lookout for an in-depth Case Watch highlighting everything you need to know about the lawsuit from Sr. Case Coordinator Madeleine Greenberg.
