I’m about to board my plane back to Texas, so I wanted to send you a quick update on my work for Texas’ 31^st District.  

ON THE DOCKET:

THE BRIEF:

• House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said President Biden, in 2017, received $40,000 in "laundered China money" from the bank account of his brother and his sister-in-law in the form of a personal check.
• The Supreme Court on Friday said it will consider a challenge to a Trump-era regulation that bans so-called "bump stocks," a firearms modification that increases the rate of fire of semi-automatic rifles.
• The Texas electric grid operator's budget will grow 40% next year, adding nearly $119 million to its current $287 million budget. Much of that will come from charging higher fees to companies that sell power to consumers.

I STAND WITH ISRAEL

This week, I voted to provide Israel with $14.3 billion to aid in its fight against Iran-backed terror group, Hamas. It's been nearly a month since Hamas brutally murdered and kidnapped men, women, and children in a barbaric and unprovoked attack. Since then, Israel has rightfully defended itself, and this money will help them continue this critical fight. Israel is our greatest ally in the Middle East, and America must stand with them. This emergency aid is paid for by rescinding dollars the Biden administration earmarked to hire 87,000 new IRS agents.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

JOINING HANNITY AND SPEAKER JOHNSON

This week, I joined Speaker Johnson and other Republican leaders for a sit down with Hannity to lay out our conference's vision for the country. Speaker Johnson said, "We are building this on teamwork and trust, and that's what this group has in common here...we believe America's best days are ahead of us. We are going to get through these Biden years, and we are going to turn this country around." As a chairman in the House, I completely agree with Speaker Johnson, and I look forward to working closely with him to improve the lives of my constituents.

FIGHTING TO SECURE THE BORDER

This week, I joined my Texas Republican colleagues in questioning the motives of the Biden administration's border wall policies. When President Biden took office, he said that "not another foot" of the wall would be built. However, the administration reversed course to begin construction in Starr County, TX only. The Texas delegation sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to ask why border wall construction in other counties that are being overrun by illegal immigrants is not being restarted.
