Hi John - yesterday the U.S. House, under the leadership of our new Republican Speaker Mike Johnson, passed a bipartisan, single-issue, and fully paid-for $14.2 billion bill to aid our ally Israel in their war against Hamas.

I support this commonsense legislation ... even though President Biden has recklessly threatened to veto it and Senate Democrats are threatening to kill it.

I posted a video last night explaining why. Click here to watch it.
Israel is one of our oldest and most reliable allies. They absolutely have a right to defend themselves against the terrorist atrocities committed by Hamas. If they are asking for our immediate help, we should provide it to them.

However, I believe that all bills going forward must meet two conditions:
  • First, it must be passed as a single-issue bill, instead of being lumped into a massive omnibus with other spending bills that no one has time to read.

  • Second, it must be paid for. We cannot afford to go further into debt.
Speaker Johnson's bill accomplishes both of those things.

It only covers one issue - Israel - and it's paid for by cutting funding from the IRS in Biden's Inflation Reduction Act (which does nothing to reduce inflation).

We'll see what the Senate does. But for now, we need to change how Washington works. Single issue, budget-neutral bills like this are a good start.

It's the kind of conservative approach I'll fight for if I'm elected to Congress to represent Orange County.
