Looking for Abstract Reviewers
With more than 600 abstracts to review for the 13th National Harm Reduction Conference, we’re calling on the community to support us in reviewing abstracts to shape the conference. We’re looking to select a group that reflects a wide range of experience(s) with regard to drug use, sex work, age, race/ethnicity, professional role, geographic location, and interests so that our team of reviewers will be reading the submissions through a variety of perspectives.
We’re reducing the number of presentation time slots to encourage unstructured time to network, rest, brainstorm, and learn more about the culture. With a record-breaking number of abstract submissions and fewer time slots, the selection process will be more challenging than ever.

One-third of opioid overdose deaths in San Francisco occur in supportive housing/single room occupancy (SRO) hotels, and the overdose death rate among SRO residents is 19 times that of the general San Francisco population. SRO residents are more likely than others to die from overdose at home, and residents are physically isolated from others, putting them at higher risk for overdose death. The SRO Project Coordinator will work within the DOPE Project team to collaborate with supportive housing sites and SROs with the highest frequency of overdose, and collaborate with staff and residents to implement resident-led overdose prevention initiatives.
