Welcome to our October wrap-up newsletter, It has been a busy month here in Washington, D.C. If you would like to stay updated on what I'm doing each week, I encourage you to check out my Facebook and Twitter! Now that Congressman Mike Johnson has been elected the 56th Speaker of the House, we can focus on serving the American people, getting our economy back on track, and securing our border. If you need help with a federal agency, please call my office at the numbers listed below so we can get to work on your behalf! | Rep. Barry Moore Member of Congress | The 56th Speaker of the House has been elected | Recently, I was proud to support my good friend Congressman Mike Johnson to be the 56th Speaker of the House. I look forward to working with him as Speaker to secure our border, push back against the Biden administration's faulty policies, and restore fiscal sanity to Washington. He is a man of great faith and conviction who can unite our conference and take on the swamp. | This month, our friends in Israel endured unimaginable suffering as an Iran-backed terrorist group, Hamas, launched an attack on Israel, resulting in the tragic loss of over 1,400 innocent lives. The Holy Land needs our prayers now more than ever. I hope you will join me in praying for them as they work to defend themselves against these horrific attacks. | Speaker race update with Newsmax | Last week, I joined Newsmax American Agenda to discuss Congressman Mike Johnson's election as the 56th Speaker of the House. This is a massive win for House Republicans! Now, it's time to get back to work on the appropriations process and put an end to Biden's reckless spending policies. | Condemning Rep. Rashida Tlaib's remarks | This past month, I introduced a resolution condemning Rep. Rashida Tlaib's remarks on Hamas' attack on Israel. I call on all of my colleagues in Congress to wholeheartedly condemn these remarks and stand with Israel as they work to defend themselves. I also requested that the Palestinian flag outside of Rep. Rashida Tlaib's office be removed in a letter to the House Administration Committee. | Supporting the FY24 Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill | Last week, I was proud to vote in support of the FY24 Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill. This legislation focuses on our national security, energy production, and our nation’s economic competitiveness by reducing our dependence on foreign minerals and providing necessary funding to the Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation. | Over the last few months, my Washington office has had a fantastic group of interns. From left to right: Will, a Baylor University graduate; Blake, an American University graduate; Joe, a second-year law student at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law; and Caleb, an Auburn University graduate. They have all done excellent work and have a bright future ahead! | Center for Effective Lawmaking's most effective Republican legislator of the Alabama delegation in the House | I am proud to have been recognized as the most effective Republican member of the Alabama delegation in the House in the previous Congress by the Center for Effective Lawmaking. From creating the Sunset and Repeal Caucus, expanding National Guard eligibility for the GI bill, fighting to end COVID-19 vaccine requirements, and working to secure our out-of-control southern border, it has been an honor representing Alabama's second congressional district! | Alabama's second congressional district photo contest | So many of you have shared beautiful photos of landmarks, landscapes, and people across our district with me over the years. I want you to have the chance to share those photos with everyone! My office is holding an AL-02 photo contest. Every couple of weeks, we will ask for photos from a county in the Second District to be shared with us via email at [email protected].
