Dear John,

Last night, most House Republicans and twelve Democrats successfully passed military aid for America's strongest ally in the Middle East, but it is facing headwinds from liberals in the Senate and President Biden. Your senators need to hear from you!

Send a message now to your senators urging their support for this bill and see how Delegate Norton voted.

Just a few weeks ago, Hamas, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization, carried out the largest slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust in southern Israel, attempting to engage Israel in a multi-front war with Hamas, Hezbollah to the north, and other Iran-backed terrorist proxies.

The aid package that passed the House is both targeted and fiscally responsible. Under Speaker Johnson's leadership, the House passed a bill that focuses only on the urgent needs in Israel. The bill also pays for the aid to Israel by making cuts elsewhere--specifically by cutting funding for the Biden administration's expansion of the Internal Revenue Service.

Unfortunately, liberals control the Senate and are echoing President Biden's demands that the House do two things: lump aid for Israel together with a much larger aid package for Ukraine and drop the spending cuts that help offset the cost of the aid for Israel.

The fact that the president and liberals in the Senate want to borrow a huge amount of money is short-sighted. Proverbs 22:7 warns that the borrower forfeits future freedom. The promise to pay back borrowed money makes us, as a nation, further indebted in the future, and promises the loss of future discretion over how money is spent. The longer we continue to borrow against the future, the less likely that we will be able to repay, and the less able we will be in the future to spend money on good things, including foreign aid (Psalm 37:21).
