We hope you have had a great week and a very spooky, happy Halloween! Congressman Kim had a busy week, beginning with breaking ground on an exciting, local project in Edgewater Park and a busy few days in Washington pushing for action against the gun violence epidemic.

As we look forward to events around Veterans Day and honoring all our local veterans, we want to also honor our veteran entrepreneurs as National Veterans Small Business Week comes to a close and all our servicemembers’ loved ones during Military Family Appreciation Month! Congressman Kim Receives New Jersey Service Award for Work Supporting our Military Community

On Sunday, Congressman Kim was honored to receive New Jersey’s Civilian Meritorious Service Award for his service supporting servicemembers and the over 350,000 New Jersey veterans and their families. Governor Murphy and the New Jersey Army National Guard Brigadier General Lisa Hou presented him the award at the Annual Governor's Military Review attended by dozens of other military and community leaders.

Congressman Kim was previously named NJ VFW’s Legislator of the Year for his work on behalf of our local veteran community. He continues his steadfast commitment to look after local servicemembers serving at JBMDL and across the world as Ranking Member of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel and make sure New Jersey veterans get the care, resources, and support they deserve.

Delivering a New Public Safety Building for Edgewater Park

On Tuesday, we were thrilled to break ground in Edgewater Park with the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development on a new public safety building and community center for the community. Congressman Kim delivered $4.4 million in grant funding for the new public safety building through a Community Project Funding request.

The new facilities will support local law enforcement's needs and make sure neighbors can easily access community services.

Congressman Kim Reintroduces Legislation to Combat Gun Violence Epidemic

Congressman Kim and Senator Cory Booker reintroduced legislation to take a common-sense step against gun violence and prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands by requiring a firearm license from the Department of Justice to purchase or receive a firearm.

The pain and grief from mass shootings and gun violence is felt deeply across our country. People are waiting and demanding Congress listen and do more to save lives. Congressman Kim is committed to passing legislation that will make our communities safer.

Reflecting on Superstorm Sandy’s 11th Anniversary

The 29th of October marked 11 years since Superstorm Sandy devastated New Jersey communities. On this anniversary, we still feel its impact across New Jersey. We will never forget the devastation and loss it caused and the strength and resilience of our communities in the face of it all.

Our work to bring relief to everyone who needs it is not finished. Congressman Kim and New Jersey League of Conservation Voters wrote an op-ed about the ongoing efforts of the Inflation Reduction Act to better protect communities and build an affordable, clean energy future. Read it here!

A Successful October for Casework

Our office is proud to be able to help you through issues with federal agencies. Last month, we were able to close 377 cases and return $896,661 to our Burlington, Mercer, and Monmouth communities. If you need help, you can always reach out to our office!

ICYMI: Webinar on Pathway to Affordable Education

Congressman Kim hosted a webinar on Monday with representatives from the Department of Education Financial Student Aid, New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority, and YesSheCanCampaign.

The group discussed how to finance and navigate your higher education plans through government programs like FAFSA and New Jersey state loans and aid options, creating a loan repayment plan through the SAVE plan, Parent Plus loans and information regarding borrowing for parents of undergraduates and graduate students, and efforts to increase transparency in financial aid and loan options.

We are excited to share that our internship applications are back open for the Spring term! If you or someone you know is interested in hands-on experience in Congress, apply to help us serve New Jersey. We have openings for legislative and communication internships in our Washington, DC office and positions across our district offices in Freehold, Hamilton, and Willingboro.

UPCOMING: Veterans Affairs Tele - Claims Consultations

We are hosting a Telephone Claims Consultations Clinic again with the Department of Veterans Affairs! Local veterans, servicemembers, and dependents eligible to receive VA benefits can call our Freehold District Office at 732-504-0490 to schedule their call from a VSO. All calls will be scheduled for between 9 AM - 6 PM on Friday, November 10th.

On your call, VSOs can help get information about VA benefits, submit a claim for compensation benefits, and get information on the status of your claim.

Open: Vaccination Fridays - Burlington County

Due to increased difficulty in finding places with COVID vaccinations for children under 3 years old, Burlington County Health Department and Southern New Jersey Family Medical Centers are offering vaccination clinics with the new COVID vaccines.

The clinics will be open starting Friday, November 3 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Health Department. Updated vaccines are available for Burlington County residents between 6 months to 11 years old. Schedule an appointment here.
