*MOUNT STERLING / OWINGSVILLE / MOREHEAD, Ky. (Nov. 3, 2023)?*? Today, Gov. Andy Beshear?s senior advisor, Rocky Adkins, presented more than $8.4 million to benefit Montgomery, Bath and Rowan counties.

The awards support high-speed internet access, road repairs and resurfacing, sidewalk projects and water treatment plant improvements.

?Every Kentuckian deserves access to high-speed internet so they can apply for that new job opportunity they are hoping for or schedule a doctor visit. They deserve clean water and upgraded roads so they know their kids will be safe,? *Gov. Beshear* said. ?As Governor, and also as a dad, it?s important to me that all our people have the opportunities, resources and infrastructure they need to thrive, and that?s why I?m proud we?re making these investments in Montgomery, Bath and Rowan counties today.?

?I have so much pride being from Eastern Kentucky, and we?ve got to make sure our people have as much hope and opportunity as anywhere else in the country,? *Adkins* said. ?What we?re announcing today are your hard-earned tax dollars coming back to your community.?

*Montgomery County Awards*
In Mount Sterling, Adkins presented:


* $2,516,406 to Charter Communications to connect 1,431 unserved homes and businesses in Montgomery County to high-speed internet, which when combined with $5.8 million in matching funds, will provide $8.3 million in total investment;
* $671,744.51 to the city of Mount Sterling to construct more than 600 feet of walkway along the west side of North Maysville Road, from Winn Street to the Montgomery County Public Library; and
* $250,000 to the city of Camargo to construct a new sidewalk along the west side of McCormick Road, next to Camargo Elementary School, keeping students, teachers and families safe.

?I am grateful to the local officials who put in the leg work to make this TAP award possible,? said *Sen. Greg Elkins* of Winchester, whose district includes Montgomery County. ?I can?t wait to see the positive difference these projects will make in Montgomery County.?

?Through our investment and the Better Internet Program grants, Charter is helping expand broadband infrastructure to rural, unserved homes and small businesses in Bath and Montgomery counties. Our gigabit-speed internet offers superior connectivity for communities across Kentucky, and we are grateful for the state?s partnership to bring this access to more people,? said *Jeff Gehrig*, regional vice president of field operations for Charter Communications.

*Bath County Awards*
In Owingsville, Adkins presented:


* $3,604,309 to Charter Communications to connect 725 unserved homes and businesses in Bath County to high-speed internet, which when combined with $3.7 million in matching funds, will provide $7.3 million in total investment;
* $256,616 to Bath County for road resurfacing on Old Midland Trail, Forge Hill Road, Sugar Grove Road and Polksville Road; and
* $29,200 to the city of Sharpsburg for road resurfacing on Montgomery Street, West Oak Street and West Ash Street.

?I am pleased Bath County residents will benefit from this historic funding and the good efforts of Charter Communications,? said *Sen. Elkins*, whose district also includes Bath County. ?I?m thrilled to see our region benefit from available funds. I want to thank lawmakers in both the House and Senate for their excellent work to fund and monitor this effort, and I also want to thank Charter and others in the private sector for spearheading expansion efforts.?

*Rowan County Awards*
In Morehead, Adkins presented:


* $1,000,000 to the Morehead Utility Plant Board for construction on its water treatment plant; and
* $152,200 to the city of Morehead for road repairs and resurfacing on Main Street.

?This funding highlights our dedication to making Morehead an even better place to live, work and visit," said *Sen. Stephen West* of Paris, whose district includes Rowan County. ?I appreciate the collective efforts that made this investment possible, as we continue our mission to boost tourism, foster economic development and ensure the safety and well-being of residents.?

?I am extremely happy to help provide funding for the road surfacing on Main Street and the construction of the water treatment plant in Morehead,? said *Rep. Richard White* of Morehead.? ?We have been in need of these improvements for some time. It takes hard work and dedication but as a good team, we do get things done.?
