There’s a lot of really incredible Democrats gunning for seats in the General Assembly.

Two of those that I’d like to ask you to consider supporting today are Monty Mason, running for reelection in the Virginia State Senate’s 24th district, and Clinton Jenkins, running for Virginia State Senate’s 17th district.

I know that these two candidates are exactly the kinds of leaders that Virginia needs. They stand for protecting reproductive rights, improving our education system, cutting health care costs for our working families, and fighting for gun reform to keep our communities safe.

But more importantly, Jenkins' district is politically split – meaning his GOP opponent has a very good chance of winning this race. And according to the Virginia Public Access Project, Monty’s Republican challenger has raised over 5 million dollars – more money than any other Virginia Senate race in Hampton Roads – one of the most competitive regions in the Commonwealth.

Long story short, these races are going to be incredibly close. And with every single seat up for grabs in the Virginia Senate, losing even just these two seats could give Republicans complete control.
