Fresh off their drawn-out, embarrassing internal battles to choose a new Speaker, the House GOP has us staring down another potential government shutdown in JUST TWO WEEKS.

The Hill: Congress currently has until Nov. 17 to pass legislation to keep the government funded or risk a shutdown.

Government shutdowns can be catastrophic for the economy, Americans’ faith in government, and the general day-to-day function of democracy.

Mail, military pay, food safety and assistance programs, Social Security benefits, and our national parks — among countless other things — could be impacted.

With a Republican House, shutdowns have become the new normal, as far-right extremists try to hold our government hostage in exchange for sound bites.
