Keeping you informed and up-to-date   Washington D.C. - On Monday, I returned to a place near and dear to my heart: the Retina Foundation of the Southwest, which provided my daughter with critical eye care at a young age. I toured their facility in Dallas and discussed their groundbreaking research in inherited eye disease, age related macular degeneration, and pediatric eye conditions. Although so much has changed since my daughter was a patient over 20 years ago, the Retina Foundation of the Southwest continues to be a leader in research and quality of care. Tuesday, I had a great time visiting The University of Texas at Dallas’ campus! I loved meeting with students to discuss some key projects they're working on. Thank you to President Benson and UTD leadership for having me! On Thursday, I joined my Ways and Means colleagues for a markup. We are working to advance legislation that will provide disaster relief, protect veterans from identity theft, hold trading partners accountable, support people reentering the workforce, and allow clergy members to rejoin Social Security. Later, my House Republican colleagues and I voted to pass another important spending bill to fund the Interior and Environment. This bill prioritizes reining in unnecessary and wasteful spending while funding the essential functions of these agencies. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, my House Republican colleagues and I successfully voted to support our dear ally Israel as she defends herself against brutal terrorist attacks. Our bill allocates funds to bolster Israel’s military capabilities and support a strong U.S. defense. Texas-24 Hometown Hero Ryan McDermott was an honorable man. He worked every day to make North Texas a better place and his loss will be felt by many. I honor him for his selfless service to his community and remember him for the lives that he touched. Thank you for your role on my team. We will never forget the difference you made in our lives. We ask for prayers for his loved ones and that he be remembered as the incredible man he was. Rep.
