Courier: Democracy's Newsroom

John,

When Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s administration made an “error” that resulted in Virginians being purged from the voter rolls, they initially claimed that only 270 voters were impacted.

A headline from our Virginia Newsroom Dogwood shows just how startlingly off that number was:

Dogwood headline: "Youngkin administration illegally purged over 3,000 voters ahead of election"

The purge happened while early voting was well underway, and with all 140 seats in the Virginia State Legislature up for grabs, election experts are worried that Youngkin’s actions could impact the outcome of the election.

John, with abortion rights hanging on the outcome of the election, what’s happening in Virginia right now could impact millions of lives.

Courier is proud of Dogwood’s coverage in these critical days before Election Day: Can we count on you to pitch in $5 to support their work and the work of our nine other newsrooms operating in battleground states across the country?

We live in a moment where right-wing bad actors are launching constant attacks on our democracy and our voting rights. Courier fights back with good journalism that uses factual reporting and an innovative online delivery model to correct the record and reach voters who may be vulnerable to misinformation campaigns.

These are just a few of the recent headlines from Dogwood’s recent coverage in Virginia:
