John, Election Day is right around the corner! Even though it's not a presidential election, there are plenty of local and state elections happening all across the country, and we're here to gear you up and keep you one step ahead of any tricks from the other side. White supremacy tries its hand every season, but we're ready to fight back.
To put it simply,
not a single one of us can afford to sit out this election. When we ignore elections, we enable the conditions that lead to investments in prison and policing. Then, divestment from things like housing and health care happen in just a matter of time.
When we say
"not a single one of us" we are talking about the livelihoods of countless Black people hanging in the balance, but we're committed. So here's what you need to know to get Election Day ready:
-
Same-Day Registration: If you reside in one of the states that allow same-day registration, you're in luck! You can register and vote on Election Day. These states include:
- California | Colorado | District of Columbia | Hawaii | Illinois | Iowa | Maine | Maryland | Michigan |Montana | Nevada | New Mexico | North Carolina | Utah | Vermont | Virginia | Washington | Wisconsin | Wyoming
