Climate Justice

This week’s Climate Justice newsletter is headed to court. First, the recent Supreme Court decision striking down affirmative action in higher education will have a rippling impact far beyond college classrooms. This decision could interfere with the fight to stem climate change, disproportionately affecting communities of color. Next, a group of small island countries banded together to present a case before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. Their argument: that much larger countries should be held accountable for polluting marine environments. Then, many financial institutions require homeowner’s insurance as a condition of a mortgage. But insurance is becoming prohibitively expensive for homeowners in the places hardest hit by climate disasters. Finally, we have a new Climate Justice editor, and a new call for pitches!
