Office of Governor Tony Evers *FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:?*November 3, 2023 Contact:[email protected]? ? *Gov. Evers, WisDOT Celebrate WIS 15 Improvements in Outagamie County* ? MADISON?? Gov. Evers today, together with Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Secretary Craig Thompson and community leaders, celebrated the improvements to Wisconsin Highway 15 (WIS 15) in Outagamie County.

?Highway 15 is an important regional route, connecting growing communities across the Fox Valley,? said Gov. Evers. ?These improvements will help make travel safer and easier for the thousands of travelers who depend on this highway and will provide expanded access to homes and local businesses. I am grateful for the strong partnerships and collaboration between all levels of government over the years to get this important project over the finish line.?

Work began in the summer of 2021 to reconstruct and expand 11 miles of WIS 15, between US 45 in New London and Lily of the Valley Drive in Greenville, to a four-lane divided highway with a bypass around the village of Hortonville. The project also constructed roundabouts on either side of Hortonville, where the bypass meets existing WIS 15.

?Communities have waited more than two decades for improvements to this busy section of highway,? said WisDOT Secretary Thompson. ?Thanks to the collective action from local, state, and federal partners, Highway 15 is now safer and more reliable for residents, business owners, commuters, and regional traffic. Together, we are improving the quality of life for residents and visitors while building a 21st-century transportation system that the people of Wisconsin deserve.?

Weather permitting, the new lanes of the WIS 15 bypass are expected to open to traffic late next week. The nearly $137 million project was funded with a combination of federal and state funds. Some construction will occur in 2024 to place polymer overlays on the bridges along WIS 15 and construct a salt shed in the town of Hortonia. ?
