I hate to be sentimental, but…

Wes Moore for Maryland

Hey John, I’m Connor from Team Wes.

I wanted to tell you a little bit about why I chose to join the Governor’s team, and why it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Back in 2022, when Wes was running, a few things stood out to me:

  • Wes is a lifelong patriot who has actually put his life on the line for his country, and refused to let Republicans who supported the insurrection claim the term “patriotism” for themselves
  • Wes didn’t just seek out friendly audiences on the trail. He was determined to talk to everyone, and not count anyone out
  • He was one of the most effective, inspiring messengers I’d ever seen!

So I joined the team — and I’ve never looked back.

To be honest, I didn’t think anything could top how amazing it felt when Wes won his race last November — with the widest margin of any Democratic governor in the country, and as the first Black governor in the history of Maryland. “Governor-elect” quickly became one of my favorite words!

But John, the true joy of this work has been watching Wes bring his campaign promises to life for Marylanders, one after the next.

Take service for example. On the trail, Wes spoke a lot about how service is sticky and brings people together. "Those who serve together stay together."

And now as Governor, he's created that life-changing opportunity for young Marylanders with a first-in-the-nation service year option for high school graduates. I hate to sound sentimental, but it's inspiring stuff.

In an issue very close to my heart, it’s also been special to watch Wes fulfill his promises to stand with and uplift Maryland LGBTQIA+ community — from proclaiming the state’s first Transgender Day of Visibility to signing protections for gender-affirming care into law.

In a time of jaded politics, Wes refuses to fall prey to the usual BS. Instead, he’s out here bringing communities together and making Maryland into a state that will lead the way for the rest of the nation.

He awakens the best in people. That includes me.

Okay, before I get too cheesy, I’m going to wrap up with a simple request. If you can’t spare a donation today, don’t worry — Wes and our whole team are just glad you’re with us. But if you CAN chip in a few bucks, I really can’t think of any public servant who is more inspiring and deserving of our support.

Make a contribution today to support Wes Moore’s leadership in Maryland.

Thanks for everything, and I hope you have a beautiful weekend!
