** Making history in Utah
------------------------------------------------------------
Another landmark day: Yesterday we joined Texas Instruments for a groundbreaking of the largest economic investment in Utah history: A 300-millimeter semiconductor wafer fabrication plant (or fab) in Lehi.
This $11 billion (with a “B”) investment will create hundreds of jobs in our state. Texas Instruments is also investing $9 million for STEM learning programs in Alpine School District which will benefit thousands of students for years to come.
We’re so grateful that Texas Instruments sees what Utah has to offer – the strongest economy in the nation, an exceptionally talented and committed workforce and a community that gives back. View photos from the groundbreaking here ([link removed]) .
** An afternoon at BYU

This week, we had the opportunity to visit Brigham Young University and talk to a group of students studying entrepreneurship. It was great to talk with these students, hear their questions and concerns, and discuss important topics like why it’s important to learn how to disagree better with those who might not share the same opinions, and how social media is having a negative impact on mental health.
We shared how research shows that connecting with others more and finding ways to serve improves our mental health. We also talked about the future of Utah and what they can do to make it the best state to live in.
Proud of our young people and excited for the future of our state!
** A Town Hall with UVU

Lt. Gov. Henderson also had a campus visit this week, joining Utah Valley University’s College of Education for a town hall with students and university staff. She shared her own unique story of graduating college as lieutenant governor, as well as the importance of education of all varieties, before taking questions from students and university staff.
Our next generation of educators is well on their way to a bright future!
** Visiting Roots High School
------------------------------------------------------------
Roots Charter High School is Utah’s first farm-based charter high school. Located in West Valley City, the students learn practical skills from working on their inner-city farm, but also develop life skills and responsibility.
Students gave Lt. Gov. Henderson a tour of the farm and their classrooms. These impressive students asked insightful questions and provided the team with a wonderful visit. Thank you, Roots!
** Governor’s Award for Excellence Highlight
------------------------------------------------------------
Each week, we’re highlighting a state employee who was recently awarded the Governor’s Award for Excellence. This week we are recognizing Brody Bailey with the Lt. Governor’s Office!
Brody consistently displays the characteristics of a leader through his professionalism, reliability, and respect for others, and uses these attributes to positively contribute to his team and the office. Brody has been with the Office of the Lieutenant Governor since December of 2022. From the first day, Brody has gone the extra mile with his duties. To highlight a few, he was a valuable asset in tracking legislation during this past General Session. He went above and beyond with incorporations by dedicating time to fully understanding the process, revamping the website, and developing informational material for public use. Brody consistently exemplifies the qualities of a leader. He is inquisitive and proactive, which has been valuable in identifying areas of improvement within our office and in facilitating those changes. His professionalism and ambition are contagious. His positive attitude and respect for others not only cultivates a culture of inclusion within the office, but also
promotes team collaboration.
