Dear John,

We are proud to announce that Congresswoman Barbara Lee will be joining us as a speaker at the 2023 MPAC Convention: Authentic Voices for Principled Change on Saturday, November 11th at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles. Congresswoman Lee has been a strong supporter of the Muslim community, including advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people.

Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-12)

Congresswoman Barbara Lee is a proven and effective progressive legislator with a history of advocacy for the American Muslim community. As Israel continues its assault on the people of Gaza, Congresswoman Lee has stood steadfast in her demand for a ceasefire, including her support for H.Res 786: The Ceasefire NOW Resolution. Her long-standing commitment to peacebuilding and justice has been a hallmark of her tenure in the House of Representatives. Congresswoman Lee was the lone vote against the 2001 AUMF, which provided the Bush Administration the unchecked authority to launch the disastrous War in Afghanistan and started the cycle of forever wars that resulted in the deaths of untold millions of civilians. In 2020, she was one of the loudest voices opposing the Muslim Ban Executive Order, speaking truth to power in defense of American ideals and countering the rising trend of Islamophobia.
