1) Government Keeps Leading the Way on Hiring
Well, at least there’s a jobs boom somewhere in America: Washington, D.C. We’ve noted for months now that the government (local, state, and federal) has been on a mad hiring spree this year, and the new jobs numbers released this morning show more of the same. Another 51,000 government workers were hired, second only to the 55,000 in health care.

And this doesn’t even include all the IRS agents Biden still wants to hire.

2) So Far It’s Michael Johnson One, House Democrats ZERO
The new House speaker scored a giant win yesterday, and we know it’s impressive because Joe Biden and Chucky Schumer are having an anxiety attack.

Not only did Speaker Johnson’s strategy to divide Israel from Ukraine funding pass on the House floor, but he even corralled 12 Democrat votes. Even better, these Democrats agreed to the GOP’s sensible demand of paying for the bill by cutting $14 billion from Biden’s supersized IRS budget with more than 87,000 new hires.

Johnson’s employing a shrewd divide-and-conquer approach to votes in the House. Splinter off the radical progressive Democrats from the handful of still semi-reasonable ones. Well done, Mr. Speaker. Keep going with this.

Meanwhile, Senator Schumer is having a hissy fit and claims he will never allow a Senate vote. That’s a very good strategy for Democrats losing the Senate next November.

3) It's Official: #2 Democrat Donor Is a Convicted Felon
Sam Bankman-Fried, the con artist who peddled "effective altruism" while looting customer funds at the hedge fund he ran, was convicted last night of seven counts carrying a prison sentence of up to 110 years.

He was found guilty of wire fraud on customers of FTX, conspiracy to commit wire fraud on customers of FTX, wire fraud on Alameda Research lenders, conspiracy to commit wire fraud on lenders to Alameda Research, conspiracy to commit securities fraud on investors in FTX, conspiracy to commit commodities fraud on customers of FTX, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Bankman-Fried, whose crimes cost victims $10 billion, will go down as one of the biggest fraudsters in history after his company stole their money and used it to fund his lavish lifestyle and political donations.

Bankman-Fried was reportedly the number two donor to Democratic candidates last election cycle to the tune of $37 million -- second only to George Soros. Republicans also got a sliver of the campaign loot.

What is it about Democrats that they always seem to rake in millions from fraudsters and perverts – from Harvey Weinstein, to Bernie Madoff, to now Bankman-Fried. Remember when Dems railed against the corruptive influence of big donors in politics?

So now, will Democrats give back every penny of the pay-to-play fraud money they collected in campaign contributions? Hmmm? We doubt it!

4) Biden Admin Did NO Cost/Benefit Analysis for 99% Of Its Flurry of New Regulations
Our friend Wayne Crews of the Competitive Enterprise Institute spotted a new report quietly issued by Biden's Office of Management and Budget. OMB is required by law to report the costs of federal regulations to Congress annually, but Biden has never complied with that law until this week's release of a three-year catch-up report.

Moreover, among the 87, at least some totally ignored the basic economic principles laid out in OMB Circular A-4. What economic principles? Specific examples are provided in our Biden-regs report:

5) So Much for Being a “Sanctuary City”
We thought that meant they welcomed the illegal immigrants!

President Biden met privately at the White House with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and other mayors who went to Washington D.C. seeking federal assistance to deal with the influx of migrants.

This is rich: For years, Democrat mayors have been sanctimoniously touting their support for letting illegal migrants into their cities. But now that the costs of these "all-are-welcome here" platitudes, they want Uncle Sam to pay the costs of their own policy errors. By the way, the Chicago Tribune has suggested the idea of bringing up Sanctuary City policies to a referendum vote in the cities, Great idea.
