No images? Click here Dear John, I wanted to reach out to share some things that we have been working on! We're at the Drug Policy Reform Summit in Arizona! After launching our latest report "Revealing the Missing Link to Climate Justice: Drug Policy" (you can read it here) we have been on a mission to spread the word as wide as possible. We were invited to speak on the intersecting issues of climate change and drug policy at the Drug Policy Reform Conference in Arizona. This is a brilliant opportunity to reach as many people as possible. Our event at the UK Labour Party Conference was a success. We have been working closely with other organisations - challenging short-term approaches to ‘aid’ and ‘charity’. If we want to see change - truly end poverty - then we need to tackle its root causes. We must tackle inequality. As part of this effort we held an event at the UK Labour Party Conference, alongside STOPAIDS, OXFAM, Tropical Health Education Trust, Christian Blind Mission, and Action for Global Health. The event was standing room only - proving the appetite for change! A virtual reality film on vaccine justice. After creating our first film as part of our #SharetheScience campaign we were approached by the People's Vaccine Alliance to be involved in the creation of a virtual reality film. The film takes viewers on a journey to visit different communities and hear about their experiences during the pandemic. Crucially, the virtual reality film will be viewed across the world and watched by countless political leaders. So far it has been presented at the recent UN General Assembly where the former prime minister of New Zealand Helen Clark and Head of UN AIDS Winnie Byanyima watched the film! Watch both films we have created as part of our #SharetheScience campaign: Voices from the Favelas and Girls in the Shadow of the Pandemic We join our voice with those calling for #CeasefireNow. We are devastated by the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza. What is happening and has happened over decades is an example of how clearly decisions by governments can have such an impact on people's health and wellbeing. We have joined our voices with others calling on an immediate ceasefire, the absolute abiding of international law and upholding of civilians lives and right to health. Read CeasefireNow and BOND's open calls. We could not work on these issues without your support. Whether making a donation or by talking about these issues to people around you - your support is crucial. Only together can we challenge the root causes of inequality and tackle health injustice. In solidarity, Natalie Sharples, |
