Republican Jewish Coalition

Remarks of Senator Tim Scott (R-SC)

Sat., Oct. 28, 2023

48 hours after Israel was attacked, I spoke for thirty minutes at the Hudson Institute. I laid out a blueprint for reversing the Biden policy of American weakness, retreat, and rewarding terrorism — that cost innocent Americans and Israelis their lives.
- We need to stop sending pallets of cash and unrequited love to Iran. Because Iran has our blood on their hands.
- We need to restart the momentum of the Abraham Accords that deepened Israel’s recognition in the Arab world.
- We need a new President and an Administration that doesn’t speak with a forked tongue, saying they support Israel by day while delaying their efforts at night. The last few weeks have been the clearest possible reminder: Republicans must win back the White House in 2024.

HELP REPUBLICANS WIN BACK THE WHITE HOUSE

I am leading in the Senate to do everything possible until then.

Five years ago, I worked on Anti-Semitism legislation — because bigotry ain’t new.

Now I’m leading on new laws —

To de-fund universities that coddle anti-Semitism…

To stop Iran sanctions from sunsetting…. And more.

But I’m not here today to talk just about legislation.

I want to talk about something that is even deeper than policy details. And even more urgent.

As a Christian, I see the Jewish people as my elder brothers and sisters in faith. We all serve the one true God. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

And the scriptures that we hold in common make one thing very clear:

We have a calling — a duty — to recognize evil… confront it… and call it by its name.

Proverbs says “he who justifies the wicked or condemns the righteous… are an abomination to the Lord.”

Beheading babies, raping women, and kidnapping families is not a form of protest or geopolitics. It is evil personified.

Jewish people being slaughtered in their homes simply because their nation exists is not some unfortunate, complex international conflict. It’s evil. And subhuman.

When a terrorist calls his parents to brag about the Jews he has killed with his bare hands… and they respond with tears of joy… that is evil from the pit of Hell.

And the poisonous anti-Semitism that has been allowed to fester on the radical left in American politics is disgusting as well.

HELP STOP THE RADICAL LEFT HERE

Our first president George Washington wrote a letter to a Jewish congregation. He reassured them that our brand-new country would “give to bigotry no sanction; to persecution no assistance.” He said the children of Abraham would not live in fear.

Now fast forward 233 years.

Today, at a capital city and a university named for George Washington, radical students have been allowed to project pro-Hamas, pro-genocide propaganda.

“Glory to our martyrs,” they wrote. “Palestine, from the river to the sea.”

Praising the murderers. Calling for the extermination of Israel. And the university did nothing.

At Princeton — a crowd screaming “long live the intifada.”

At MIT — anti-Semitic demonstrators demanding, quote, “One Solution.”

At the University of Washington, a Jewish student sobbed and begged administrators to do something. “They want our people dead,” she said. “They want us killed. How are you allowing this?!”

Left-wing universities and college presidents have spent years rushing into every political controversy they could get their hands on. They’ve had no problem speaking up.

But now? Now that their own institutions are being used as platforms to call for genocide?!

Now they offer pathetic equivocation… or worse, deafening silence.

They seem more offended by ‘micro-aggressions’ than by mass murder.

In the 1990s, the late Justice Scalia delivered a bone-chilling speech about the Holocaust.

He said: “We will have missed the most frightening aspect of it all, if we do not appreciate that it happened in one of the most educated, progressive, cultured countries in the world.”

The Germany of the 1930s proves that a society can place all the value they want on education, credentials, and elite institutions.

But if we lose our moral compass — those things don’t just become useless. They become dangerous.

We need moral clarity. So let’s start today. Let this echo across every college campus in America.

HELP RESTORE MORAL CLARITY HERE

A federal subsidy for your education is not a right. It’s a privilege.

A visa so foreign students can study here is not a right. It’s a privilege.

Do you know what is a right?
1. The right of Jewish Americans to walk down the street in safety.
2. The right for Jewish students to study in their own college library without it being suggested they should go hide in the attic. And this goes deeper than college campuses.

We have seen footage of Israel supporters being assaulted on our streets by radicals draped in the Palestinian flag.

NYPD has seen an explosion in anti-Semitic hate crimes in New York City over the past three weeks.

The ADL is tracking a 400% spike in incidents nationwide.

If this were any other minority group, the far left would be screaming from the rooftops. The corporate media would be lighting their hair on fire.

Progressives say they’re all about the safety and feelings of minorities. The oppressed. The marginalized.

But when it’s Jewish Americans who are hurting — they are silent?!

I can only call that one thing: anti-Semitism.

The evil extends all the way up into the halls of Congress.

Last week, 15 radical Democrats voted against condemning the Hamas attacks or voted ‘present.’

One of them, Ilhan Omar, has previously claimed that Jewish people had “hypnotized the world.”

Another one of them, Rashida Tlaib, is a self-appointed propaganda minister for Hamas!

Several members of “the Squad” support the anti-Semitic B.D.S. movement — a coordinated, worldwide economic war of aggression against Israel.
- Nobody is making Joe Biden put up with this.
- Nobody’s stopping Kamala Harris from speaking out.
- Nothing’s preventing Chuck Schumer from denouncing this on the Senate floor.
- Nothing’s stopping Hakeem Jeffries from kicking them off their committees and out of the caucus.
- Nothing — except the fact that they only care about POWER.
They’d rather embrace anti-Semitism within their ranks than upset their political base.

There is a point where cowardice becomes complicity. And they are way past it.

We have to cut out the rot of anti-Semitism from our society.

We need cultural chemotherapy to fight this cancer.

Any student who is advocating for murder and terrorism should be expelled from campus.

Any foreign student on a visa who calls for genocide should be deported. You’re gone!

Any university that lets itself become a megaphone for evil will lose every dime of federal money.

Anybody who marches through our streets applauding the killing of Americans and Israelis should be considered unemployable.

And any member of Congress who gives an OUNCE of aid, comfort, or support to terrorists — through their words, their actions, or their affiliations with groups like the D.S.A. — should be expelled from office immediately.

If you support Hamas, you are in violation of your oath of office! Period.

Let me end with this.

It’s very simple.

In Genesis, God creates light. He calls it good. And he divides the light from the darkness.

That is our mission. That is our CHARGE. That is the blessing we can be to the world!

We can separate the darkness from the light.

We can call evil by its name… and overcome it!

People ask: WHO will stand in the gap for the Jewish people?

I say… I WILL!

Who will fight the cancer of anti-Semitism on college campuses? WE WILL!

Who will reclaim our streets for peace and patriotism? WE WILL!

The book of Isaiah, chapter 62 is the prophet’s prayer for Israel.

“Because I love Zion, I will not keep still! Because my heart yearns for Jerusalem, I cannot be silent!”

“I will not stop praying for her until her righteousness shines like the dawn… and her salvation blazes like a burning torch!”

My friends — may we be messengers of that light!

May we be ambassadors of God’s mercy to the good… and instruments of His justice to the wicked!

Good will triumph. Evil will fail.

Hamas and its allies need to feel the wrath of God.

And I dare say some Western military hardware is gonna help them on their way.

John, I believe our country is hungry for positive, conservative leadership.

It is time for us to restore hope, create opportunities, and protect America. It is time for us to be proud to be Americans and proud of our president.

That’s why I announced I am running for President of the United States.

SUPPORT MY CAMPAIGN HERE

The Democrats have chosen a culture of grievance over greatness. Here’s the thing though – I know the power of the American Dream because I have lived it. My family went from cotton to congress in a single lifetime.

This isn’t going to be easy. I’ll need your help to win.

Can you chip in $5, $10 or even $15 to help me win?

This campaign relies on very generous gifts from people just like you. Trust me, I know that times are tough in Joe Biden’s America, so even if it’s just $5 I would be so grateful.

Thank you for your support!
