As most of heard yesterday, 14-term incumbent Kay Granger officially announced that she will be dropping out of the primary that will take place on March 5, 2024. While this is a major victory, the fight continues. What many may not know is that a back-room deal has been struck. Kay has personally chosen her "successor." I have faith that the voters of this district will not acquiesce to this tactic. The seat belongs to the constituents, and never to any individual.
When I first made the decision to run for office, I promised to be respectful. I actually met with Kay prior to filing. She asked me to wait until 2026. Obviously, that was not the path I chose to take. Here is my official statement on the announcement of Rep. Granger dropping out.
“Kay Granger’s retirement signals a new day for America First Republicans who are running to put “we, the people” over the Establishment. I commend Congresswoman Granger for being a pioneer in the State of Texas, but our movement was unstoppable and it’s time to create real change for the American people. My campaign message and commitment to stand with President Trump has always been clear: I stand for America first, and vow to always stay true to that message while serving the people of Texas in Washington."
