Legislative Updates

I was proud to support the Clean Energy Future Plan that passed the Senate last week. This historic legislation would finally bring renewable energy standards to our state, as well as increase energy efficiency requirements and allow the Michigan Public Service Commission to hold our utility providers accountable. It is clear that our state needs to take bold action in order to fight climate change and improve our energy reliability, and the Clean Energy Future Plan will do just that. I look forward to continuing to advocate for this legislation as it awaits a vote in the House of Representatives, and I will continue to keep you updated as we anticipate action on this bill package. Community Updates As a member of the Growing Michigan Together Council, I’ve been tasked with exploring ways to keep our neighbors here in Michigan and grow our population for years to come. Last week, I had the privilege to bring fellow council members to Riverview High School and Trenton High School, where we heard from students, educators and community leaders about ways we can grow our state and attract talent to our region. I would like to thank everyone who participated in these productive conversations, and I look forward to continuing these discussions on how to grow our population through improving educational outcomes, job opportunities and housing options.
