Last November, Michigan voters made their stance clear by decisively voting to safeguard abortion rights in the state's constitution. Since then, individuals from across the nation have journeyed to Michigan in search of essential abortion care. However, they are often confronted with perplexing and burdensome restrictions, such as a 24-hour advance consent form requirement, leading to the denial of care for many.
Fortunately, Michigan Democrats introduced the Reproductive Health Act to eliminate these barriers and ensure that those seeking abortions receive the care they need and deserve. Regrettably, one Democratic legislator, State Rep. Karen Whitsett, unexpectedly opposed the bill on September 20.
