Over 20 Republicans chose to vote down a resolution aimed at censuring Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) for her criticisms of Israel, lying to the public, and support of Palestinian Hamas.
This unexpected move saw the 23 Republicans aligning with House Democrats, resulting in a 222-186 vote that effectively halted the disciplinary resolution from advancing.
Tlaib, the sole Palestinian American in Congress, had faced intense scrutiny from House GOP members due to her statements on Israel.
Conservative firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) had spearheaded the censure resolution, accusing Tlaib of "antisemitic activity" after the congresswoman expressed concerns about U.S. arms support for Israel and advocated for ending the blockade, occupation, and apartheid system.
Tlaib had also taken part in an anti-war protest organized by Jewish groups, with the resolution branding her a "leader of an insurrection." The protest followed a major Israeli offensive against Hamas-controlled Gaza, a conflict that claimed lives on both sides.
Tlaib, despite being briefed with definitive evidence of the fake claims that Israel was responsible for striking a hospital, spoke at a rally later that day promoting the fake news.
A special thank you goes out to those who supported and participated in this campaign and took nearly 400,000 direct-to-lawmaker actions! [ [link removed] ]
Greene, disappointed by the Republican votes against the resolution, lashed out on social media, characterizing them as "feckless" and criticizing their inability to hold fellow representatives accountable for their actions.
Greene wrote in a post on X [ [link removed] ]: “This is why Republicans NEVER do anything to stop the communists Democrats or ever hold anyone accountable!! PATHETIC.”
In yet another instance, a radical Democrat has been accused of making false statements to the public and even seemingly condoning a violent terror attack as a legitimate form of 'resistance.' This troubling scenario raises concerns about the adherence to federal laws and ethical standards within the political sphere. What's equally concerning is the perceived reluctance of Republicans to act and hold their fellow representative accountable for her words and actions.
Call your Representative and ask them why they voted to kill the resolution to censure Tlaib:
