John,
Last night, the House of Representatives voted to "table" Marjorie Taylor Greene’s bigoted, Islamophobic resolution censuring me for humanizing Palestinians and demanding a ceasefire.
The resolution was defeated—but the attempts to silence me are not stopping. I am the only Palestinian American serving in Congress, and my perspective is needed here now more than ever. I’m not going to be silenced.
Trying to bully me won’t work, because this movement for a ceasefire is bigger than one person, and it’s growing every single day.
Donate now to push back against attempts to silence me and our movement to save lives.
We will continue to call for a ceasefire, for the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, for the release of all hostages and those arbitrarily detained, and for every American to be brought home, including Zakaria, Laila, and Yousef in my district.
Some people inside and outside Congress are determined to lie and distort my words, so let me be clear: my criticism has always been of the Israeli government. It’s important to separate people and governments, and no government is beyond criticism.
The lie that any critique of the Israeli government is antisemitic sets a dangerous precedent, and it’s being used to silence diverse voices speaking up for human rights across our country.
Meanwhile, yesterday a Member of Congress used genocidal and dehumanizing language, questioning the existence of innocent Palestinian civilians.
I can’t believe I have to say this, but the Palestinian people are not disposable. We are human beings just like anyone else. My grandmother, my sity, like all Palestinians, just wants to live her life with freedom and the human dignity we all deserve.
Speaking up to save lives no matter their faith or ethnicity should not be controversial. The cries of Israeli and Palestinian children calling out for their parents sound no different to me.
I am grateful to be in this peace movement with people of all backgrounds, including countless Jewish Americans across this country standing up and saying not in our names.
Please chip in today to show your support for a ceasefire and to make clear that we will not be silenced.
