Hello Friend,
I wanted to get back to you ASAP about the incredible day we had on Capitol Hill Wednesday. But first…
Thank you for the time you took to send messages to lawmakers, and to learn more about how VOA is protecting and caring for people in need. Together, we amplified our voice! With your help we sent the VOA message to 150 Congressional offices.
Our teams of VOA advocates and program experts gave strong voice on behalf of the struggling families and communities we serve. We had deep meaningful conversations with 65 influential legislative offices about the severe cuts to Affordable Housing funding and what that would mean to our clients. We talked about the importance of funding Health Services, Senior Services, and Veterans and Moral Injury, too.
A special highlight during our morning briefing was when Representative David Price, Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, made it very clear that he understands the need for affordable housing and is working toward solutions. His perspective and support was energizing for everyone there.
From that moment, I knew this day would not only contribute to positive change, but it would showcase our power together as a united front for the cause of improving lives.
I look forward to updating you as the appropriations process continues. I hope we can count on your continued support and we’re so thankful you’re with us!
Sincerely, Sarah Fitch Director, Public Policy Volunteers of America
P.S. You stepped up and showed you care, and that means the world to those we serve. Consider one more step that works in the heart of the community: A gift now will fuel VOA grassroots advocacy efforts and our everyday community work providing shelter, meals, and other vital services.
