This week we launched our ONLINE Repeal Section 9 Petition, which asks elected representatives in the Stormont Assembly to repeal the radical abortion law set to be imposed on Northern Ireland from 31st March 2020. This legislation, as you will know by now, is the most extreme in Europe, and removes all meaningful legal protection from unborn babies right up to the 7th month of pregnancy (28 weeks). 

Government abortion statistics for England and Wales, released yesterday (05/03/2020) revealed that 1 in 4 babies are aborted in Britain, the highest proportion since records began in 1990. In a press statement released today, Bernadette Smyth of Precious Life said the "astonishing" figures represented "not only a national crisis, but a national tragedy." 

She also said that the devastating figures should "serve as a stark warning for Northern Ireland's politicians" who now "need to look at the rising death toll just across the water and act now to protect the lives of unborn babies and their mothers.”

These horrifying new statistics should incentivise us all to ACT NOW to stop Northern Ireland having similar shameful abortion ratios in the not-so-distant future. Please, if you can, get involved in some way in our 'Repeal Section 9' Campaign to restore legal protection for unborn children here. Write to your politicians, ask them to address these appalling figures, and ask them to step in NOW and use their power to stop this from coming to our towns and cities. The only way we can ensure babies and women will be safe in Northern Ireland - no exceptions - is through the repeal of Section 9.
