Every day, journalists around the world encounter online harassment and abuse, often intended to suppress critical voices by attacking their credibility. However, while all journalists are at risk of such attacks, it is women journalists who have found themselves on the front line of the battle against online harassment and intimidation.

​​​​​​Governments, social media platforms, and news organizations must all develop more effective tools, techniques, and policies to ensure that media workers are not targeted, and to implement meaningful consequences for their abusers if they are.

Call For Protection of Journalists in Cambodia and Vietnam

Journalists working in Cambodia and Vietnam are routinely threatened and detained for their reporting and commentary. Freedom House joins partners in highlighting restrictions on press freedom and freedom of expression in these countries and calling for the immediate release of journalists and human rights defenders that have been arbitrarily detained.
