John, Gov. Newsom recently called the special election required to fill the late Sen. Feinstein’s seat through the end of her term.
That means that California will now have two elections side by side: One election will determine who will serve from November 2024 to January 2025, and the second election will determine who will serve the regular six-year term starting January 2025. Both elections will appear on the March and November ballots.
In practice, this means two things: First, and most importantly, you will need to vote for me twice on the March ballot!
Second, because there are now essentially two elections, the maximum amount that someone can contribute has DOUBLED.
That means my opponents, who have raised millions from millionaires who can give tens of thousands of dollars to their campaigns, can now collect DOUBLE the amount of those donations.
But this campaign is fueled by small donors like YOU who believe that my progressive record of accomplishment and our shared vision of a progressive future is what’s needed in the Senate.
So I'm humbly asking you to ensure that my dedicated team has the resources we need to stay competitive in this race:
Can I count on you to chip in $5 or more now to show the power of our grassroots movement in the final and most expensive months of this race, and to bring a true progressive to the Senate?

Barbara Lee
