‘Grassroots Rising' this weekend
Climate change is getting worse, so we're getting better. Let's level up
our climate advocacy THIS weekend at "Grassroots Rising," CCL's virtual
Fall Conference.
We'll get started with an Action Team Fair and virtual reception on
Friday evening. These are great opportunities to connect (and cut loose
a little!) with a community of climate advocates dedicated to the cause
just like you.
Here's a peek inside the incredible program lined up for Saturday:
✅ Dana's "Good News for Climate Action" session , which will cover the
latest updates on federal climate legislation and how it is paving the
way to lower carbon emissions, record clean energy investment, good
jobs, and improved infrastructure.
✅ A tell-all panel of CCL group leaders , where they share how they have
overcome challenges and achieved their successes. Audience questions are
welcome, and you'll leave with fresh ideas for your own CCL work.
✅ How-to breakout sessions, covering every topic from memorable lobby
meetings to creative coalition building and more.
And of course, you'll hear from some exciting guest speakers:
Author and CNN commentator Van Jones
Senator John Hickenlooper of Colorado
CCL's own former VP of Government Affairs Danny Richter

Take action this week
If you have a little time: Call Congress about the BIG WIRES Act. Since
last week, volunteers have placed 1,212 calls to congressional offices,
building support for the BIG WIRES Act. Have you made your calls? Use
our easy tool

to call your representative and senators to ask for their support. We'll
hold hundreds of lobby meetings about this bill next week, so now is the
perfect time to call.
If you have more time: Attend our biggest-ever info session. We're
offering a special CCL Informational Session for new and veteran
volunteers who want to better understand CCL's methods and mission, and
how to make a difference on climate legislation. Register for the Fall

Featured chapter: CCL Columbus
CCL Columbus is a chapter that is always looking for fresh ideas to
create the political will for a livable world. Recently the chapter
collaborated with a local muralist, Blain Studio, and a local art
college to design and create a piece of art to support climate action,
pictured above and posted on the chapter's Instagram profile

.
"The mural is located in the heart of downtown Columbus on the Columbus
College of Art and Design campus," explains Donny Murray, a chapter
leader. "A good friend of mine works at the college and the muralist is
also an alumnus; it was an easy pitch once we got through the door."
The mural is on a building in a high-traffic location, reaching lots of
Ohioans every day with its message and the CCL logo. "We plan to share a
picture of the mural during our November lobby meeting to show support
for climate action in the district," Donny says.
Beautiful work, CCL Columbus!
