Just a moment ago, Republicans in the House had their second chance to expel George Santos for defrauding our district.
But once again, they failed to hold him accountable for his lies, corruption, and dozens of federal crimes.
I cannot help but wonder what message this sends to the general public.
What values do we hold dear if we allow a conman like George Santos to steal his supporters identities, tout a phony resume, relentlessly deceive voters and still remain in power? This is the central question of my campaign.
The answer is that Congress is no place for people like Santos. We need to leave corrupt politicians like him in the past and embrace a new generation of leaders whose guiding principles are honesty, dignity, and public service. The people of New York’s Third District are looking to our leaders to answer for rising inflation, skyrocketing costs of living, and affordable health care.
Our allies in Israel and Ukraine are looking to us for support in their darkest hours.
And instead of addressing these real-world issues, the House is meeting to reprimand George Santos – and they cannot even get that done!
New York deserves a new leader who focuses on advancing Democratic values in Congress so we can help those who need us the most. While I am deeply disappointed in tonight’s outcome, I am not surprised.
We need a change – and we need it now.
With gratitude,
Zak
