Dear Friends,
Open enrollment to shop, compare, and renew plans through both Access Health CT and Medicare has begun. More than a decade after the Affordable Care Act became law, we built on that progress with new health care savings for families and seniors by passing the Inflation Reduction Act.
For customers shopping for a plan on the Access Health CT exchange, you can compare plans and enroll now through January 15th by visiting AccessHealthCT.com, calling 1-855-805-4325, or visiting an in-person enrollment location.
- Because of the Inflation Reduction Act, most residents who enroll are eligible for assistance to lower your monthly payments or out-of-pocket costs. No American will pay more than 8.5% of their income on premiums.
- You must enroll on or before December 15th for coverage to begin on January 1st. If you enroll between December 16th and January 15th, coverage will start on February 1st.
- Residents no longer eligible for coverage through HUSKY health may be eligible for the Covered Connecticut Program, which offers no-cost plans for families with a household income of up to 175% of the federal poverty line.
If you are a senior on Medicare, open enrollment ends on December 7th. Visit Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE to find and compare plans now. There are new savings for Medicare recipients:
- Insulin costs are capped at $35/month with no additional deductible.
- Preventive vaccines are free, including shingles, whooping cough, and COVID-19.
- If your drug costs reach the catastrophic coverage phase, you will not have to pay a copayment or coinsurance.
- For people who earn less than 150% of the federal poverty line, Extra Help is available to cover more drug costs.
I am proud of the progress we have made to reduce the uninsured rate and lower health care costs. I will continue my efforts to expand access to care and lower drug prices for all Americans.
