Community,
Today is Day of the Dead, a holiday where many people all across San Diego County will remember, honor and celebrate those that came before them, supported them, and helped them become who they are today.
I would not be where I am today without the trailblazers and ceiling breakers that came before me.

Over these next two days, we will see ofrendas, or altars, full of photographs, marigolds, candles and the favorite food and drinks of departed family and friends in a time to reunite with loved ones.
Calaveras, or skulls, will be painted on faces and made out of sugar — adorned with smiles to represent the joy that can be found in the fond memories of our lost loved ones. Papel picado, designed tissue paper, will line the streets as decorations to welcome the spirits back.
Cultural celebrations like Day of the Dead are what makes District 4 and San Diego County such a vibrant, diverse community. I am honored to live in and represent this incredible community!
