John,
The new Speaker of the House could try to throw a wrench in the gears of restoring net neutrality.
The FCC recently proposed a rule to restore Title II and net neutrality. These are common sense consumer protections against telecom companies, and would prevent the industry from charging unfair fees and controlling what we can access online. This kind of oversight is critical because the telecom industry's actions greatly impact peoples’ lives. But giant companies like Verizon and Comcast want to derail net neutrality and avoid regulation at all costs. They’re putting up a fight with a campaign of misinformation and lobbying.
Last week, the House of Representatives elected a new speaker, Mike Johnson, who is on the record as being opposed to net neutrality. In fact, he wants Congress to codify the Trump administration’s repeal of net neutrality so that we can never get it back1.
We know how to fight Mike Johnson and politicians like him who are on the side of corporations and not people. We have written op-eds in favor of net neutrality2, have ensured the media is covering our campaigns3, developed videos and graphics for social media awareness4, and have been driving comments to the FCC and Congress to let them know that the majority of Americans want net neutrality restored5.
Telecom’s pockets are deep and they have endless money to fuel their anti-net neutrality campaign. Grassroots organizations like ours rely on individual donations to fund our work. Having the Speaker of the House on their side could give Big Cable even more momentum.
We’re currently dangerously behind our grassroots fundraising goals for the year. Will you pitch in to keep up the fight to restore net neutrality?

Let’s take on the telecom industry and put the power back in the hands of the people.
