Dear John,

Rush your signature to Congress: Don’t let your legislator approve another handout to the fossil fuel industry!

From coast to coast, our public lands are under attack! To stem the worsening climate crisis, we must stop drilling and mining in our wild places and near historic, cultural landmarks.

But last week, Congress unveiled a bill that would make it easier to obtain permits to strip mine across our public lands. In short, this bill sells out our wild places in the interest of Big Polluters.

The good news: We can still stop this giveaway to Big Polluters. But your legislator will only vote against it if they feel pressure from constituents like you. Can we count on your support?

Help protect our wild places from mining: Tell Congress to block giveaways to Big Polluters!

This could’ve been the energy bill that changed our energy sector and protected our public lands -- but it’s not. This is a handout to Big Polluters and the fossil fuel industry. We need Congress to do better.

In addition to selling out our public lands for strip mining, the legislation promotes false solutions to the climate crisis such as including support for LNG exports, nuclear power, and carbon capture and sequestration. What’s worse, this bill also provides money to subsidize new ways to burn natural gas and coal.

Any serious energy bill must rapidly reduce emissions and transition to a clean energy future. It is long past time for an energy bill that is truly transformative to come to the House floor. Anything less is unacceptable.

Fight for a greener future: Tell your legislator to block this handout to the fossil fuel industry!

Whether it’s the Atlantic Coast Pipeline running through the Appalachian trail, Keystone XL running through Indigenous lands, or new drilling in the Arctic refuge, our reliance on fossil fuels is harming communities and the only Earth we’ll ever have. We must change our extractive and destructive energy sector.

There is no excuse for more handouts to Big Oil and King Coal. It will harm the health of people who live near designated project sites, and it will irreparably scar beautiful landscapes where people from all over the country come to enjoy outdoor activities. Eventually, it will harm everyone.

We must protect our nation’s wild places and our communities from future fracking, mining, and drilling. Our planet simply can’t handle any more of these destructive, extractive practices. Now we need your help sending this message to Congress.

Sign your name: Don’t let Congress approve another handout to the fossil fuel industry!
