Moments ago, The Cook Political Report upgraded the North Carolina Senate race to toss-up after multiple independent polls put Cal Cunningham (D) ahead of McConnell’s handpicked lackey, Thom Tillis (R).

Cunningham just won his primary this week despite Republican interference and he outraised Tillis 2-to-1 during the last fundraising period. 

The winner of the North Carolina Senate race will very likely determine who controls the Senate after the November elections, which is why we expect it to be one of the most expensive races this year.
