TODAY! SHAC 101 VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

It's Time Texas will be hosting a SHAC Workshop Wednesday, November 1, from
2:30 PM to 4:30 PM CST. 

During this virtual workshop presenters will describe basic concepts of a
SHAC, share resources to support SHAC work, and discuss strategies from
these resources to improve engagement and effectively communicate the
SHAC’s impact across various audiences.

GRANT OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEXAS SCHOOLS

The Texas Department of State Health Services invites school districts or a
school campus to apply for the Reaching for Excellence (RFE) in Texas
School Health Grant. The goal of the RFE grants is to fund projects that
inspire students to live healthier lives.

School districts can receive up to $10,000 in reimbursement funds to
implement a project at the district level or on a school campus. If
selected, the school district will receive funds for one project. 

Some winning projects have included topics such as: bicycle safety, school
garden, fitness camp, intergenerational garden, and walking trails. 

Application is open from 10/16/2023 to 1/22/2024

Project Timeframe is from 07/01/2024-08/31/2025

On November 7, staff from Healthy Futures will gather with fellows, faculty
members from the Bloomberg School of Public Health, and public health
leaders at the 2023 Bloomberg American Health Initiative Summit. This
year's event is centered around the exploration of how uncommon connections
and partnerships are driving advances in health across the country.
