Hi John.

I hear regularly from Kansans who are concerned about crime and keeping their families safe. No one should have to fear walking home at night or dropping their children off at school.

I’ve made it a priority to help ensure Kansas is always a safe place to live, work, and raise a family. So today, I wanted to share a new critical resource that may help you.

My team has created a new public safety resources page at davids.house.gov/publicsafety. On our page you can find local law enforcement contacts, services such as property checks and area crime maps, fire prevention information, resources for child safety and consumer protection, and a lot more >>

Please click here to visit davids.house.gov/publicsafety now to find resources for you and your family. You can also take my survey to share your public safety priorities with me.

I’ve secured funds for key local safety projects, including to upgrade Olathe’s mobile police command unit with new technology so folks can get immediate onsite assistance.

My mom is an army veteran and served in law enforcement for a time herself. I know police officers have difficult jobs.

That’s why I’ve helped secure more than $27 million in public safety grants to hire more police officers, prevent crime, and get criminals off our streets. That includes support for police departments in Overland Park, Gardner, and more. I’m also working with Republicans and Democrats to prevent crime, improve mental health, and support people suffering from substance abuse.

My focus is on concrete and bipartisan solutions to keep people safe. And as this crucial work continues, my team and I are connecting Kansans with all the resources we can.

Here are just some of the resources on our new page that may help you:

Law enforcement contacts: If you’re in an emergency, please always dial 911 right away. On our website, you can find out how to contact your local police to ask questions. You can also find out how to contact other state and federal law enforcement agencies that serve the Kansas Third District.

I’ve made it a priority to protect Kansans. That work begins by partnering with local police departments – I’ve been glad to work alongside local law enforcement throughout the Kansas Third District.

Law enforcement services: Law enforcement agencies in our region offer a variety of services to help keep local families safe. That may include checking on your property if you’re out of town, maps of local criminal activity, fingerprinting services, or even free gun locks.

Child safety: Local families may be able to access a range of services from federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to keep their children safe. For example, you may be able to access age-appropriate education programs from law enforcement. Local police may also be able to inspect your child’s car safety seat to make sure it’s installed correctly.

I understand that it’s incredibly important for all parents and guardians to keep their children safe. Our website has resources that can help.

Fire safety: Fire departments throughout our region respond to thousands of calls every year. Yet, many families can take steps to prevent fires and stay safe, including by installing working smoke alarms. On our website you may be able to find out how to get a smoke alarm for free, how to find and properly operate a fire extinguisher, and how to prepare your family with a home escape plan.

Our local fire firefighters and first responders as well play a critical role in protecting our families. That’s why I was glad to help secure funding for the Olathe Fire Department’s Mobile Integrated Health program to help community paramedics provide needs-based care onsite.

Mental health: Many families are grappling with serious mental health challenges right now. On our website, you can find assistance including local centers that may help you or your loved ones.

Help for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault: If you or someone you know needs help, please know people who care are available. Anyone may call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-(800)-799-SAFE (7233) for assistance. More resources are also on our website.

Everyone deserves to be safe – and I know there’s a lot more work to do.

If you or someone you know needs assistance, please feel free to forward them this message so they can access these resources too.

My job is to serve every person and corner of our community – regardless of party. Whether we agree on every issue or not is beside the point. Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for special interests, big corporations, or the extremes of either party.

If you have any questions or would like to share your views, please don’t hesitate to contact me. It’s an honor to serve you and your family in the U.S. House of Representatives.

My warmest regards,
