Howdy John - I’m Mary.
I’m the Chair of Montezuma County’s Democratic Party, the furthest southwest county in Colorado! While we’re thrilled that Colorado has Democratic majorities in the state legislature, in statewide offices, and in our Congressional delegation, Montezuma County shows why local races and “red” districts are still so important to fight in.
Tuesday is Election Day, and here in Colorado, voters have some pretty important decisions to make. Between Prop HH and II, which would protect Coloradans from huge tax increases and invest in our public schools, to the countless races for City Halls and school boards across our state, we need help delivering for working Coloradans in rural areas. Will you support our efforts by chipping in today? >> [[link removed]]
We’ve made it a top priority to break the Republican majorities in our local offices across the state in the coming years. On Tuesday, we have a chance to make real progress on this front and chip away at these large far-right majorities in local offices, including right here in southwest Colorado.
In Montezuma County, far-right candidates are running unopposed for seats on the Montezuma-Cortez School Board. One of them said that he would refuse to follow statewide education policies because they go against his personal values. He’ll put his own far-right ideologies above the priorities of Montezuma’s students, teachers, and parents.
Our work is to prevent candidates like this from running unopposed by empowering good people and helping them run for office. We are working to make sure that everyone, even people in the most rural parts of our state, have choices when they go to vote.
So, John, will you chip in whatever you can to help us execute our Get Out the Vote programs this year and continue building the infrastructure we need to pursue these top priorities? With your support, we’ll be able to double down on candidate recruitment and make sure we have the resources to win in tough seats across the state. [[link removed]]
Go, fight, win.
Mary Dodd
Chair of the Montezuma County Democratic Party
P.S. Have you made a plan to vote on Tuesday? It’s too late to mail your ballot, so be sure to return it to your closest drop box or vote in person at your local polling location/VSPC. Click here to find both. [[link removed]]
