John,
There is a nursing home crisis in this country―but we’ve got the chance to fix it.
At the beginning of the pandemic, one of the biggest threats to seniors wasn’t just the virus―it was unsafe staffing levels at nursing homes.
Nursing home staff are underpaid, overworked, and often forced to work double shifts between different facilities to make ends meet―leading to the disaster in New York state.[1]
Even without a pandemic, nursing homes need safe staffing levels. Fortunately, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is preparing new rules to fix this.
For-profit nursing home chains are mobilizing lobbyists to weaken these rules. We need to be sure that CMS hears from people who support safe staffing. Can you take a moment and submit an official comment today?
Thank you,
Alex Lawson Social Security Works
