John — My lifelong
best friend, my first-ever progressive ally — my incredible sister —
Susheela Jayapal has launched her campaign for Congress!

I couldn't be more excited to share this news (and these cute photos of us
from back in the day) with you!

Growing up, our parents taught us the importance of working hard to make
things better, even if that means causing a little good trouble. It's
what's led us to fight for progressive values like health care for all,
climate justice, and abortion rights.

For years in Oregon, my colleague Congressman Blumenauer has been a
tireless progressive, leading the way on so many crucial issues. His
"radically effective" legacy will be sorely missed in Congress after his
retirement and our progressive movement will need a new strong progressive
ally to fight by our side. I know Susheela is ready to join in that fight
and deliver results for poor and working people across the country.

Susheela immigrated to America at just 16 years old to attend
college—paving the way for me to do the same just a few short years later.
We were both inspired by the promise of America, and we're both committed
to ensuring America lives up to its promise of opportunity for all.

Susheela served on the Multnomah County Commission where she led efforts
to build more affordable housing, increase access to community health
services, and support survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking.

I'm so proud to call her "sister," and with your support, I can't wait to
call her "congresswoman."

With MAGA Republicans in Congress causing chaos, I need a trusted
progressive champion like Susheela by my side to help protect our
democracy and our rights.

Susheela refuses corporate PAC dollars and is relying on grassroots donors
like you to help fuel this campaign. [ [link removed] ]Can we count on you to chip in?

From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
