Election Day is in less than one week & reproductive freedom is on the ballot Indivisibles,
In less than a week, voters will head to the polls and decide the fate of reproductive rights in Ohio -- and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
In 2019, Republicans in Ohio passed a six-week abortion ban without exceptions for rape or incest. That law has been temporarily blocked, but as soon as this month, the Republican state Supreme Court could issue a ruling that puts the six-week ban into full effect.
Millions of people would lose access to reproductive care, and it’s not just Ohioans who are at risk. People in neighboring states where abortion is already banned -- including Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia -- often rely on Ohio as the closest available option for getting the care they need.
That’s why it’s critical that we ensure the reproductive rights initiative on Ohio’s ballot passes next week. The measure to codify abortion rights is widely popular, but Ohio Republicans have done everything they can to sabotage this effort. They even rewrote the ballot language to confuse voters.
The GOP disinformation campaign increases the urgency of our effort to get out the vote. We need to have actual conversations about this measure with every voter we can. Right now, Indivisibles are calling, texting, sending postcards, and canvassing their neighborhoods with our Neighbor2Neighbor program. But unfortunately, we don’t have the resources we need to fully fund our final week of GOTV work. So, if you’re in a position to give, click here to pitch in and help us reach as many voters as possible before Election Day.

All eyes will be on Ohio next week, including activists from across the country who are hoping to start their own voter-led efforts to overturn abortion bans. We also know anti-abortion extremists are watching too. They’ve poured millions of dollars of dark money into this race, and they’ve made disinformation the cornerstone of their campaign. If they win this election, they’ll take this strategy to other states where abortion could be on the ballot.
But with your support fueling our work, we’re going to beat them next week, help Ohioans codify reproductive freedom in their constitution, and take this momentum into 2024 to restore abortion rights across the country.
In solidarity, Indivisible Team
